Despite comparisons with the likes of The Detroit Cobras and Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Gin Palace have their own take on this beast we call rock. And as they thrash out demented offerings from their 'Kicking On' album, who would dare question their originality?

Now That I'm Free kicks things off, making you wonder how so few instruments could make so much noise. Short and not sweet, I Like It and Kicking On continue the raw elementalism of guitar and drums versus angry female vocals - 4ft 11 Meaghan Wilkie wins this bloody battle and Cool Like An Axe celebrates the victory for her gloriously poisonous voice.

Blind fury fuels these tales of life, sex and (ahem) the problems of alcohol. If it's emotion-laden bluesy rock you want, then look no further. But don't get too close, they bite.
